 All About Outreach Minimize

Our Christian Outreach program provides a variety of rewarding ways for you to get involved in the greater community.   Our collaboration with these organizations helps us to get help to those in greatest need in our area and beyond:  The Pettengill House in Salisbury, Community Service of Newburyport, Emmaus House in Haverhill, North Shore Housing Trust, Community Action, DOVE Campaign, Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center, DARE House, Newburyport Learning Center, Newburyport Council on Aging, Hugh Doyle Resource Center, Andover Newton Theological School, Newburyport/Bura Alliance, Angel Fund and Los Patajos in Guatemala. 

Central Church is also a co-sponsor, along with East Parish United Methodist Church and The Pettengill House, both of Salisbury, of the Saturday Night Meal Program, which delivers hot meals once a month to needy residents in the greater Newburyport/Salisbury area.  You can participate by cooking, packaging, or delivering the meals.  This has proved to be a life-changing experience for those who participate, as they see the needs of adults and children living right in their own communities.

Christian Outreach News
We had a few new projects this summer
 
We provided breakfast on the bus for the Park Circle campers for the month of July which was greatly appreciated.
 
A donation was made to the PANMASS Challenge for the Dave Legg team Lungstrong.
 
The visitation team and others were wonderfully making meals, sending cards, visiting and taking care of some of our members as the needs arose. For those of you that missed summer sermons or would like to share with someone that did Bob Lewis did tape them and they are available in the office. Thank you so much Bob!!!
 
 
Saturday Night Meals will begin on September 25th, our menu will be American Chop Suey. Please stay tuned for more details and sign-up information.
Great news....the original Central Church Chowder recipe is in our possession. Yes we will be cooking and serving the Holiday Fair Luncheon. If anyone can help with fish donations please let us know. All potato peelers, we will need you too!!
Thank you for all your outstanding support and generosity for our committee's work. We look forward to a great year as a full committee and welcome any suggestions and yes your help!

 Pettengill House - Birthday Outreach Minimize
Birthday Blessings

The first year of Birthday Blessings was a wonderful success, with over 60 birthday bags delivered to Pettengill House throughout the year. Each gift bag contained a box of cake mix, a can of frosting, candles and a gift card to Wal-Mart. Pettengill House dispersed these bags to families who might not otherwise be able to provide birthday ―festivities‖ for their child. Deb Smith, the Director of Pettengill, told me many times how helpful the program was and how much they appreciated our donations.  
 
I hope we can once again provide for these families and will plan to hold sign-ups in the Social Hall after Rally Sunday. The way in which I proposed the program last year was that those who are interested in participating consider choosing the month of the birthday of a child who blesses their own lives and then sign up to provide this blessing for a child who might not otherwise have as happy a birthday. If you have questions or want to contact me directly, please call Julie Ogden at 978-465-6345 or email at jogden@govsacademy.org. Thank you.
