We conclude our discussion of Nonviolence: The History of a Dangerous Idea by Mark Kurlansky.  Feel free to jump in even if you haven't attended a previous meeting. 

 

We will continue to offer the paperback book in the office for $10 each.

 Sunday February 12th - Sabbath Practice Workshop Minimize
STARTING A SABBATH PRACTICE WORKSHOP
SUNDAY, FEB 12, 11:45am, LIBRARY
Led by Catherine Merrill, Seminarian

Sabbath practices are all about finding ways to celebrate God's abundance, as well as recognizing that how ever much we do, God has created the world we do it in.  Sabbath practices are great ways for families to make the time to simply be together.  But it's hard to relax into God's abundance when someone's up a ladder cleaning out the gutters and you feel guilty.  It's hard to find abundance in the 53rd round of Candyland.  Family Sabbath practices take time to develop, to meet everyone's needs.  But when they do, they open up a connection that is unique.

Next week we'll look at what the Bible says about Sabbath, look at our own lives in light of those ideas and then identify one single practice to begin with.  The goal is to turn theory into practice.

LENTEN BIBLE STUDY
WEDNESDAY EVENINGS FEB 29 - MAR 28
 
Living the Questions is a popular video series which invites us to interact with one another in exploring what's next for Christianity. The 20-minute video segments include conversations with leading voices of faith, digital stories illustrating aspects of an evolving faith, and concrete spiritual practices and disciplines.
 
We will ask volunteers to help with a light supper of soup and bread each evening.
